The BCCI shared a video showcasing the camaraderie and enjoyment among the team members, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Varma, Renuka Singh, Shreyanka Patil, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, during their flight from Chennai to Dambulla.
The tournament, consisting of 15 matches, will feature full-member teams from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, alongside Malaysia, the UAE, Thailand, and Nepal.
Group A comprises Pakistan, India, Nepal, and the UAE, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on July 26, with the final scheduled for July 28 in Dambulla.
In the lead-up to the Women’s Asia Cup, the Indian team has enjoyed significant on-field success. They recently defeated South Africa 3-0 in the ODI series and played out a draw in the one-off Test in June-July.
Additionally, they drew the three-match T20I series 1-1, with one game being washed out due to rain. Prior to that, India had a triumphant tour of Bangladesh, winning the T20I series 5-0 from April to May.
Between December last year and January, India hosted Australia for a one-off Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is. Although they emerged victorious in the Test match, they suffered defeats in the ODI series (0-3) and the T20I series (1-2).
These series and tournaments will play a crucial role in India’s preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place from October 3-20 in Bangladesh, where India will be striving to secure their first-ever major ICC women’s trophy.
