Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, responded to the recent shooting incident, which the FBI has described as an “apparent assassination attempt” at the former president’s golf club, saying, “I’ll be hugging my kids extra tight tonight.” Vance expressed his relief that Trump was unharmed, revealing that he had spoken with Trump before the news broke.”He was, amazingly, in good spirits,” Vance shared, while acknowledging that many details about the situation remain unknown.
The incident took place when US Secret Service agents opened fire after spotting a person with a firearm near Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club in Florida. Trump, who was playing golf at the time, was not injured. According to reports, the suspect fled in an SUV and was later apprehended by local law enforcement in a neighbouring county.
The Secret Service confirmed that the shooting occurred just before 2pm, assuring that “the former president is safe.” It remains unclear whether the shots were specifically aimed at Trump, though officials continue to investigate the circumstances.
This comes only two months after an assassination attempt on Trump’s life at a rally in Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed his ear. In light of these incidents, security around Trump has become a growing concern for his supporters.
JD Vance’s emotional reaction underscores the unease surrounding Trump’s safety. Despite the ongoing threats, Vance expressed gratitude that Trump emerged unscathed once again. His sentiments reflect the concern shared by many within Trump’s circle, as the former president continues to face potential dangers while campaigning.
