The Patabasti Colony of Hanuman Nagar, Hyderabad is well known for its Ganesh Puja celebration. For the past 50 years, the Idol has been known as the best idol in the area and this year has been no exception. One more thing that makes this puja special is the auctioning of the laddus. The locals mentioned that those who have won the auction have prospered in life.
As per reports, last year one laddu was auctioned for around Rs 36 lakh. In an interview with Local 18, the members of the Ganesh Puja Committee mentioned the Sobha jatra or procession is another special thing and is often joined by prominent personalities.
This puja pandal attracts thousands of devotees every year. The members of the committee mentioned that the laddu auction that takes place during the Ganesh Chaturthi has even surpassed many famous laddu auctions. Many ministers, MLAs and high-ranked officials perform rituals and the first pooja is often performed by them.
While speaking about the auction a person said, “Those who have won the auction have experienced great prosperity in life. The Laddu auction started with Rs 1.000 around 50 years ago and last year the amount reached Rs 36 lakh even surpassing the famous Balapur Laddu auction. We are expecting that the number will go higher this year.” He added that after the completion of the pooja at 7: 00 am on the day of Sobha Jatra, the laddu auction will take place.
It was reported that Local ministers, MLAs and other high-ranked officials will join the famous procession. It will be a gala celebration, accompanied by cultural performances such as singing, folk dance, etc. Many perform Kolatam, a popular folk dance form to grace the occasion. The visarjan ceremony is expected to take place on September 17. The auctioning function of the Laddu will be held on the same day, as mentioned by the locals.
According to a report by the Times of India, last year the Ganesh Laddu was auctioned for a whopping Rs 1.25 crore. It took place in the Sun City area of Bandlaguda Jagir, Hyderabad.
