She is on a two-day campaign trail in Wayanad, a seat vacated by her brother. This is the first election Priyanka Gandhi will be contesting. After a long political incubation, honing her campaigning and management skills, she is expected to cruise to an easy victory. Beyond that lie high expectations. What would the likely entry of the younger Gandhi sibling to Parliament mean for Congress?
Let us disaggregate Congress into three parts: parliamentary, organisational, and electoral. One must remember that Parliament has been declining in influence for many decades now. A few roaring speeches from Priyanka in Parliament would not really help Congress.
