Jitarth Jai Bharadwaj alleged that his new outlet’s content was selectively blocked.
Jitarth Jai Bharadwaj, the managing editor of Australian diaspora news outlet The Australia Today, on Monday said that he found that his news outlet’s Facebook and Instagram pages were blocked in Canada after they posted an interview with external affairs minister S Jaishankar.
Bharadwaj said Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) may have restricted access to their content due to a Canadian law that limits news content from being shown on these platforms.

He pointed out that another news outlet, known for anti-India and pro-Khalistan content, is still accessible in Canada and deemed it ‘selective blocking’ of content produced by The Australia Today.
He said The Australia Today is yet to receive official notice from Meta about why their pages were restricted. He said his outlet remains ‘committed to bringing diverse Australian multicultural stories and global Indian Diaspora perspectives’ to its readers.
“We look forward to continued engagement with our Canadian audience, albeit through other accessible channels beyond Meta’s platforms. We hope that all stakeholders can work towards ensuring that important news content is accessible to everyone without barriers,” Bharadwaj said.
