Shailesh Lodha was spotted in a walker boot at Mumbai airport.
Renowned TV actor and poet, Shailesh Lodha, best known for his role in the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was papped outside the Mumbai airport on Friday afternoon. His appearance quickly caught the attention of fans and admirers as he was seen wearing a walker boot on his left leg, indicating that he suffered an injury. Several pictures and videos of the actor-poet surfaced on social media.
In one such video, Shailesh was seen interacting with the paps stationed outside the airport premises. A paparazzi asked him “Kya hua sir? (What happened sir?)”, to which he replied, “Chot lag gayi dost (Got hurt my friend).” However, he didn’t give much information about how he suffered the leg injury.
As soon as the video was shared online, fans expressed their concern. An Instagram user commented, “Get well soon,” while another wrote, “Will be back, Mehta Sahab.” One more fan added, “Get well soon, sir.”
Shailesh gained significant recognition for his role in TMKOC, where he portrayed Taarak Mehta, the best friend of Dilip Joshi’s character, Jethalal. He had been a part of the show since its debut in 2008. However, in 2022, his sudden exit from the show left fans in shock.
In an interview with Lallantop, the 54-year-old actor explained why he left the show abruptly. He revealed that the show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, had “verbally disrespected” him, which led to his decision to exit the show altogether.
He recalled being invited as a celebrity guest for a stand-up comedy show titled Good Night India on SAB TV, where he appeared as poet Shailesh Lodha, not as Taarak Mehta. “I shot for it and even recited a poem there. A day before the telecast, Taarak Mehta’s producer called me, questioning how I could be on that show,” the actor shared.
“Unhone (Asit Modi) bohot asabhya bhasha mein baat ki, jo mujhse bardaash nahi huyi (I could not tolerate the derogatory language he used for me)” and further added, “A show is created by several people working together, not just one. On February 17, 2022, I emailed him that I did not want to continue with the show.”
Currently, actor Sachin Shroff plays Taarak Mehta in TMKOC.
