Aman Sehrawat is a fan of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’

Olympic Bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat happens to be an ardent fan of the Indian daily soap ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ which has been entertaining the people of the country since 2008.

Aman Sehrawat was the last athlete to add to India’s medal tally at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 21-year-old wrestler won a bronze medal on his Olympic debut after defeating Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico with a convincing score of 13-5. The victory also made him India’s youngest-ever medalist at the Summer Olympics.

Aman has been a fighter in real terms. After losing his parents at a very young age of 11, Sehrawat was raised by his grandfather. He made Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium his home and dedicated his life to wrestling. Though he won a bronze in Paris, the hunger to clinch a gold is still there as he wishes to fulfill his dream in Los Angelis in 2028.

When not training on the mat, Sehrawat has his own ways to chill. He happens to be an ardent fan of the Indian daily soap ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ which has been entertaining the people of the country since 2008. Speaking with India Today after winning the bronze medal, Sehrawat said he loves watching the show in his off time.

Tab to bas Taarak Mehta dekhna accha lagta hai (When I am not doing wrestling, I love to watch ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah),” Sehrawat said.

Fans on social media are going gaga over Sehrawat’s statement as they are loving the young wrestler’s simplicity.

With his win, India’s medal tally goes up to 6 medals now, with 5 Bronze and 1 Silver, while Sehrwat also scripted history, becoming the youngest Olympic medallist for India at 21 years of age. The bout started off with both wrestlers going for it out the gate. Cruz especially went for Sehrawat’s legs, pushing him out of bounds to claim the first point.

Sehrawat though wouldn’t budge already, as he would find the tackle from around the back to push Cruz down and gather two points of his own to take the narrow 2-1 lead. His determination and grit though would not be broken, as the Indian would fight back harder every time he was taken down, to keep on reclaiming his lead as he stood with a 10-5 lead with a little over a minute to go.

Sehrawat continued his dominant start in the 57kg freestyle category after entering the semifinals of the ongoing Paris Olympics on Thursday. Aman outclassed 4th seed Albanian Zelimkhan Abakarov 12-0 via technical superiority to make it to the last-four round.
