Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Saturday threw “polluted black water” outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, claiming that the same water is being supplied to the people of the national capital.
Maliwal further warned the Chief Minister that the water she brought was just a sample and if she does not fix the water supply of the entire Delhi within fifteen days, she will bring a whole tanker full of polluted water outside the CM’s residence.

Maliwal said that the people of Sagarpur, Dwarka had called her, to show the pathetic situation of drinking water.
“The people of Sagarpur, Dwarka had called me and the situation there is very bad. I went to a house and black water was being supplied there. I filled that black water in a bottle and I brought that water here, at the Chief Minister’s residence,” news agency ANI quoted Maliwal as saying.
The former Delhi Women Commission chief claimed that the situation in Delhi has been the same since 2015 and the AAP government just promised to fix the situation year after year but nothing fruitful happened.
“Since 2015 we have been hearing that next year everything will be fine… That black water which I have brought – they have no shame, will Delhi drink this?” she added.
Taking a potshot at Atishi, Maliwal said, “I am leaving this water for her. She can bathe with this water, drink this water or purify her sins… Chhath Puja is coming. Today was Govardhan Puja, yesterday was Diwali and this is the condition of Delhi… Who can drink this water and live? Who can stay alive after drinking this water? The Chief Minister is also the Water Minister. Is her job just to make fun by holding ten press conferences every day?”

The development came days after AAP alleged that Delhi is grappling with severe water shortage due to alarmingly high ammonia contamination in the Yamuna river, primarily attributed to industrial waste from Haryana.
Last week, the Delhi Jal Board had announced water shortage till November 1 in several parts of the national capital due to the Yamuna’s high ammonia content.
Meanwhile, the BJP had accused AAP of “failing” to ensure proper water supply in the national capital.
The BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor had said, “It is regrettable that the Delhi government has failed to ensure proper water supply for the past several months despite a good monsoon and, when the festival season is here, water shortages and cuts are increasing.” Kapoor claimed AAP failed the people of Delhi in two ways.
Earlier, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva was admitted to the RML Nursing Home with complaints of itching and breathing difficulties, two days after he took a dip in the heavily-polluted Yamuna to highlight the alleged failure of the AAP government to clean the river.
On October 24, Sachdeva took a dip in the Yamuna at the Chhath Ghat and slammed former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his “failure” to fulfil his promise to clean the river by 2025.
After taking the dip, Sachdeva faced skin rashes and slight discomfort in breathing for which he was examined at the RML Hospital where the doctors prescribed him medicines for three days.
