Stree 2‘ is the buzz word all over lately. The film has managed to make a huge dent when it comes to the box office and this has not happened in a while. With its impressive run at the box office, it won’t be a wonder if it sets to become the highest grossing Hindi movie ever. The film is slowly inching closer to the Rs 500 crore mark net in India and it has become faster with a huge number brought in on the third weekend.
The Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer saw a huge jump on Saturday and more so on Sunday, as compared to the weekdays. On its third Friday, the movie made around Rs 8.5 crore net, and the Saturday number was just double of that. It made Rs 16.5 crore on Saturday and further saw a boost on Sunday. The collection of the movie on Sunday was Rs 22 crore. Thus, the total weekend number on the third weeked was around Rs 36 crore which is much more than most movies have been doing on their first weekend lately.
With this added in, the total collection of ‘Stree 2’ so far, according to Sacnilk, is Rs 480.05 crore net. It is expected that over the next two days, the film may cross Rs 500 crore net at the Indian box office. Now the question is, will it cross the number which ‘Jawan‘ (Hindi) made and become the highest grossing Hindi movie of all times? Time will tell, but the hope is quite strong. The trade believes that Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Jawan’ which also released in September last year had benefitted out of Cinema day offer. If ‘Stree 2’ continues its run, over the coming few days, it may also benefit from Cinema Day.
‘Stree 2’ directed by Amar Kaushik, also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurrana in pivotal roles.
