Stray Dogs Attack Child Playing Outside House In Pune’s Chakan, Horrific Incident Caught On CCTV

A child was injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked him while he was playing on the road in Pune’s Chakan area, according to the CCTV footage which has recently surfaced. The attack reportedly occurred on September 8 at 10:15 AM.

The visuals showed that the child was surrounded and attacked by seven to eight dogs while he was outside his house playing on the road near the Yash Park area in Kadachiwadi.

After hearing the child’s screams, the relatives and nearby residents rushed to his rescue and saved him from the net of stray dogs. The child sustained minor injuries during the incident and is undergoing treatment, said officials.

In a separate incident reported in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, a three-year-old was mauled to death by stray dogs a few months ago. The incident unfolded in the Mauda area where the child stepped out of his house in his parent’s absence.

As soon he stepped out of the house, a bunch of stray dogs surrounded and attacked him, in which he received severe injuries, said his father. The eyewitnesses claimed that the dogs attacked the child’s neck, biting his legs and hands as well.

The child was rescued by the neighbours who rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital. The boy, however, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Data tabled by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Parliament revealed that dog bite cases increased from 21.8 lakh to 27.5 lakh between 2022 and 2023. As many as 4.35 lakh cases were recorded from Maharashtra alone, making it the state with the highest number of dog bite cases last year.
