The vacancies are for posts of Junior Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Hindi Translator and many more for various Departments, Ministries and Organisations in the government

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released an official notification for direct recruitment to Group B non-gazetted posts. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the Open Competitive Computer-Based Examination by submitting their application forms on the official website of SSC at ssc.gov.in.

Notably, the recruitment drive is being held to fill a total of 312 vacancies. The vacancies are for the Group B non-gazetted posts of Junior Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Hindi Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Senior Translator for various Departments, Ministries and Organisations of the Government of India.

SSC JHT, SHT 2024: Important Dates

–– Submission of online applications: August 2 to August 25.

–– Last date and time for receipt of online applications: August 25, till 11 PM.

–– Last date and time for making online fee payments: August 26, till 11 PM.

–– Application correction window: September 4 to September 5.

–– Computer Based Examination (Paper-I): October-November, 2024

SSC JHT, SHT 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Age limit: As per the official notification, candidates must be between 18 to 30 years as of August 1, 2024. This means aspirants must be born not before August 2, 1994, and not later than August 1, 2006 to be eligible.

Educational Qualification:

Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator: Must hold a master’s degree of a recognised university in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of exam at the degree level or a master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an exam at the degree level.

Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator: Candidates must have a master’s degree of a recognised University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of exam at the degree level or master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of exam at the degree level to be eligible.

SSC JHT, SHT 2024: Exam Pattern

The SSC JHT recruitment examination will consist of two papers, Paper I and Paper II. It is to be noted that there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper I. Both papers will be held for a duration of 2 hours.

Paper I – It will be a Computer-Based examination including General Hindi and General English. Paper-I will consist of degree level Objective Type Multiple choice questions only designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, phrases and idioms, correct use of words, and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively.

Paper II – This paper will be held in a written or descriptive mode consisting of Translation & Essay. As per the SSC, Paper II will encompass two passages for translation – one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi. Additionally, there will be an Essay each in Hindi and English that will test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly and precisely.
