SSC Cracks Down on Exam Malpractices: Warns of Strict Action
NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a strong warning against candidates and individuals involved in malpractices related to its examinations. In a press release, the Commission emphasized the serious consequences of disclosing, publishing, reproducing, transmitting, storing, or facilitating the transmission and storage of test content in any form, whether in whole or part.
The SSC has issued a notification following reports of widespread irregularities in the SSC Clerk Exam 2024.According to a recent report, the Delhi Police have filed an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter after allegations emerged that 53 candidates employed unfair methods to cheat during the exam. The move comes in response to complaints raised by several candidates regarding the integrity of the examination process.
It is alleged that several crores of rupees were exchanged to carry out the scam, with most of the exam centers under investigation located in Rajasthan, sources revealed. According to a source quoted by TNN, “Each compromised center had around 5-7 candidates, and at least 10 such centers are currently being investigated.”
The SSC identified irregularities in the answer sheets of 53 candidates who had nearly perfect scores, sparking suspicion. A deeper analysis uncovered that all these candidates had answered in a remarkably similar pattern. This discovery led the SSC to alert the police, who subsequently filed a case under sections related to cheating and forgery.
Officials noted that the examination pattern resembled previous cases where question papers, sent to exam centers in sealed envelopes, were leaked at certain locations. Police suspect the involvement of a solver gang that helped candidates by providing answers. An officer, quoted by TNN, stated, “A breakthrough is likely soon.”
The exam in question, the Combined Higher Secondary Level, is conducted to recruit candidates for various clerical positions in central government ministries and affiliated departments.
The Commission has made it clear that it will take swift and decisive action against those found guilty of exam malpractices. Disciplinary measures may include disqualification from the current and future examinations, as well as legal proceedings. In severe cases, the matter may be reported to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
