Delhi ex-chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, expressed hope that Mehraj Malik, the sole elected AAP MLA in J&K from Doda, would be given a position in the state government in exchange for AAP’s support.
“Since AAP has supported the Omar Abdullah government, I hope that our Mehraj Malik (AAP MLA) will be given responsibility in Omar Abdullah’s government, so that he can serve the entire Jammu and Kashmir along with Doda,” said Kejriwal while addressing a public gathering in Doda.”When I see the struggle of Mehraj Malik, , I see Arvind Kejriwal in him,” he added.
Then congratulating Omar Abdullah on his upcoming role as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, he pledged to “support him in all ways possible”. He also drew parallels between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, said that much like the national capital, Jammu and Kashmir has also been reduced to a “half state,” with most powers being transferred to the Lieutenant Governor. “The BJP government at the Centre has made Jammu and Kashmir a half state just like Delhi. If Omar Abdullah sahab has any problem in running the government, he should ask me, I have run the government in Delhi successfully,” said Kejriwal.
Taking a jab at PM Modi Kejriwal said, “Modi ji says that Arvind Kejriwal gives away free Revdi. Yes, Modi ji, I give away free Revdi to the people of Delhi. If you have the courage, try to stop me.” “”I want to tell Modi ji that every election is a message to the leaders from the people. In this Lok Sabha election, Modi ji said that we would win over 400 seats but they won only 240 seats. What does this mean? Kejriwal claimed it as a message from the people, suggesting that they are dissatisfied with PM Modi’s leadership of the country.
Kejriwal also thanked the people for “trusting AAP” and praised them for sowing the seeds of a new kind of politics focused on building schools, hospitals, and providing free electricity and healthcare.
