While it remains unclear how DOGE will operate, its recent job listing said applicants will be vetted by Musk and Ramaswamy.

DOGE aka the Department of Government Efficiency which is US President-elect Donald Trump’s government efficiency booster and bureaucracy slasher posted a job urging applicants to come help increase bureaucratic efficiency.

Elon Musk’s role in the upcoming Trump administration was clarified this week when president-elect Donald Trump appointed him and Vivek Ramaswamy to head the newly created “Department of Government Efficiency” aka DOGE.

The department’s name, derived from a Shiba Inu meme and also an inspiration for a cryptocurrency, has become a rallying cry for Republicans and conservatives who say the department will slash bureaucracy and increase government efficiency.

However, it is still unclear how Elon and Vivek plan to do that. Meanwhile, the official X page of DOGE went live on Wednesday and in its very first post, the account posted: “Working overtime to ensure your tax dollars will be spent wisely!”

On Thursday, DOGE said that both Elon and Vivek will review applications sent in by applicants and choose the best among them.

“We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants,” DOGE posted on its official handle.

“We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don’t need more part-time idea generators,” it further added.

It should be noted that the billionaire-led DOGE is not proposed as an official government agency. DOGE will act as an advisory board which will “provide advice and guidance from outside of Government”, according to US President-elect Donald Trump.

Ramaswamy proposed a “massive downsizing” of US federal agencies, while Musk supported reducing these agencies by about 75%. Any substantial funding cuts would still require Congressional approval, a report by Forbes said.
