“To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support. It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together,” Van Nistelrooy’s post read.
“M.U.F.C will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope there are many more glory days at Old Trafford very soon – not only because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it! All the best and take care, Ruud,” he added.
Van Nistelrooy, who joined the club’s coaching staff as an assistant coach to ten Hag in June 2024, expressed his desire to continue as an assistant to Amorim upon the Portuguese manager’s arrival, however, the 39-year-old iterated his desire to work with the coaching staff that had served him well at Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.
Amorim led Sporting to two league titles in his four-year tenure with the capital city club and ended a 19-year title drought for the Leoes.
With United languishing at the 13th position in the Premier League table, the club’s faithful would believe that the Portuguese manager could work his magic in England too as United experience a PL silverware drought of over a decade themselves.
