Michael C. Hall returns to the ‘Dexter’ Universe: All You Need to Know About the New Prequel and Sequel Series |
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hall expressed his enthusiasm for the new projects. He praised the scripts for their quality, saying, “The scripts they’ve executed are fantastic. I can’t wait, like as a fan, to watch it, and as an actor, to spend time seeing real footage of things that I’ve sort of tried to imagine for myself when I imagine what Dexter’s early days [were like], now I’m going to have this technicolor version of his memories to refer to. And I think it will help inform my experience of whatever comes next in the other series” quoted in a report by Movieweb.
Exploring Dexter’s beginnings in ‘Dexter: Original Sin’
Set in Miami in 1991, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ will take viewers back to the origins of Dexter Morgan, focusing on his transformation into the cold-blooded killer that fans have come to know. The series will provide a deep dive into Dexter’s early years, exploring how his twisted moral code developed under the guidance of his adoptive father, Harry Morgan.
Patrick Gibson, recognized for his role in The OA, will portray the younger Dexter, while Hall will serve as the narrator, giving insight into Dexter’s internal struggles and thoughts. The cast is rounded out by notable actors, including Christian Slater as Harry Morgan and Molly Brown as Dexter’s sister, Debra Morgan. Additionally, the series will feature appearances by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patrick Dempsey, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Reno Wilson, and Alex Shimizu, further elevating expectations for the show.
‘Dexter: Resurrection’
While much of the plot for ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ remains shrouded in mystery, speculation is rife about what direction the sequel will take. Fans are left wondering whether Dexter survived the climactic ending of ‘New Blood’ or if he will return in another form, possibly as a guiding ‘Dark Passenger’ for his son, Harrison. Hall’s excitement about revisiting the character hints that the new series will deliver the thrills and complexity that have become synonymous with Dexter’s story.
During SDCC, Hall shared his thoughts on returning to the role. According to Movieweb he stated, “It’s pretty heady. It’s so gratifying. I’m on the inside to a certain degree and I have a sense of what’s coming but I’m really excited. I’ve spent so much time with this character and to go back and have all the imaginative blanks filled in is going to be great.”
