Matthew Perry’s assistant allegedly injected Perry with ketamine, Including on day he died
Matthew Perry‘s live-in personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, has pleaded guilty to charges related to the Friends star’s death, which occurred in October 2023 due to “the acute effects of ketamine,” according to the Department of Justice (DoJ). Iwamasa was among five defendants charged in connection with Perry’s death, the DoJ announced on August 15.Iwamasa admitted to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death. The DoJ revealed that Iwamasa “repeatedly” injected Perry with ketamine “without medical training,” including on October 28, 2023, the day Perry died.
Jasveen Sangha, also implicated in the case and referred to as “The Ketamine Queen,” along with Dr. Salvador Plascencia, are scheduled to be arraigned on August 15. Sangha faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, maintaining a drug-involved premises, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and ketamine.
Dr. Mark Chavez and Erik Fleming were also charged. Chavez will plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, while Fleming pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Iwamasa and Fleming could each face 15 to 25 years in prison, while Chavez may receive up to 10 years. Sangha, if convicted, faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and potentially a life sentence. Perry, 54, died on October 28 from an accidental drug overdose.

An autopsy confirmed his death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine, with contributing factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid use disorder.
