Manchester United are set to face off against PAOK in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday as interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy goes in search of another win at the helm of his beloved Red Devils.

Ahead of the game at the fabled Old Trafford, Van Nistelrooy was quizzed if he has had discussions over the same with incoming manager Ruben Amorim, who led his Sporting CP side to a stunning 4-1win over United’s arch-rivals Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

“No, I didn’t have contact so far, there are no changes in that,” the Dutchman said as he looks for his second win in three games following a 5-2 hammering of Leicester City in the EFL Cup and a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.

“It’s difficult to comment on that now, I am waiting for conversations to take place,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

He opined that it was upto him to get the day-to-day done as long as he is in charge at OT, with Amorim expected to join up with the Mancunian side on the 11th of November.

“In the meantime, obviously there’s one thing that’s the most important for this football club now, which is getting the work done on a daily basis and in the game coming up tomorrow in Europe,” the Dutchman said.

“It’s a European night at Old Trafford against the Greek champions, second in the league currently. I honestly have to say that I feel the responsibility to do well over the next week and that is my job. I am focused on that,” he added.

“I welcome Ruben, I am happy to help him and that is the situation for the moment,” the 48-year-old continued.

Van Nistelrooy also provided an update on United defender Leny Yoro, who signed for the English club during the summer window but is on the road to recovery following an injury he sustained during pre-season friendlies.

“He’s been managed very well after his injury in pre-season, obviously it was going to be a long one, and it’s a big moment for him,” Van Nistelrooy said.
