The US has reportedly asked Lebanon to declare a unilateral ceasefire with Israel to revive talks to end fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. This was communicated by US envoy Amos Hochstein to Lebanese PM this week, as per Lebanese sources quoted by Reuters.The report comes as US stepped up diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The sources told Reuters that the US sought to persuade Beirut to take back some initiative in the talks. The report adds that Washington told Lebanese officials that Israel will likely continue military operations against Hezbollah.
