Kriti Sanon says it took ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ for her to break free from being Tiger Shroff’s heroine tag: ‘Children called me ‘Tiger didi”
Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has recently spoken about her career struggle in Bollywood and how she was an outsider. Speaking with The Indian Express, Kriti reminisced about it taking her a few films to gain a foothold and break free from the ‘Tiger Shroff’s heroine’ tag. She started off opposite Tiger Shroff in the 2014 film ‘Heropanti‘, which was a major launch for both the actors.
But Tiger had his father’s association, so Kriti needed to do a little extra to break out of that mould.
Kriti Sanon spoke about the initial struggle to become accustomed to recognition of her name. She shared an amusing incident wherein, while filming for Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s directorial, the children called her “Tiger didi”. She explained that outside cinema, she took time to penetrate the psyche of the viewer even after the debut role. The actress, however, feels that ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi‘ (2017) was more of a landmark film and somewhat altered the perception of her image in Bollywood.
Kriti is riding high on a dream 2024, with two big-ticket films ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya‘ and ‘Crew’ minting box-office success. She now aims to keep the momentum going with her third release of the year, ‘Do Patti’, where she will share the screen with Kajol, playing a dual role. The thriller, directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, also stars Shaheer Sheikh and Tanvi Azmi, besides others.
