LUCKNOW: Under operation conviction, a conviction was achieved in a four-year-old murder case, with the court sentencing an accused to the death penalty and imposing a fine of Rs 13,000 for the brutal killing of his wife.
A Banda sessions court awarded the death sentence to Kinnar Yadav, who was convicted for the murder of his wife in 2020. He was convicted under the charges of IPC 302 (murder).
Superintendent of Police, Ankur Agarwal, said that on October 9, 2020, Kinnar Yadav, a resident of Amlohra village in Bisanda, murdered his wife by slashing her throat with a sharp weapon and decapitating her.
“He then brought the severed head to the Baberu police station. An FIR was lodged by the victim’s father, under the charges of murder,” said Agarwal.
The investigation was conducted thoroughly. The post-mortem was conducted, and the samples from the weapon were taken. It was seized on time and sent to the lab by then Inspector Jayashyam Shukla. “The case was backed up by scientific evidence and a watertight case was prepared. Later, a charge sheet was submitted to the court on October 27, 2020,” said SP Banda Agarwal.
Public Prosecutors Vijay Bahadur Singh and Umashankar Singh presented a strong case in court, supported by diligent efforts from the police.
Another senior police officer said that the verdict comes nearly four years after the incident, primarily due to delays in locating a key witness who had been injured and had left the village. “It took two and a half years to trace this witness, during which the court proceedings continued. The prosecution presented 11 witnesses over approximately 60 court dates, and five different judges were involved in the case,” he said. The motive behind the murder was Yadav’s suspicion of his wife’s fidelity. He had also attempted to kill an alleged lover by calling him to their home, but the young man managed to escape. Yadav intended to kill both his wife and her alleged lover.
SP Agarwal stated, “We are committed to expediting legal processes and ensuring justice in every case. I personally monitor these cases. Today, justice has been served with the death penalty in this murder case, following a fair investigation.”
