Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, made an unexpected appearance alongside the Prince of Wales, Prince William, on a visit to Southport. They held a private meeting with the families of three kids who were killed in a knife attack in July in the UK’s Southport area. Kate Middleton’s Thursday visit to Southport was her first official public engagement since she finished her chemotherapy treatment.
UK broadcaster BBC said that Middleton decided to join husband William to show her ‘support, empathy and compassion to the local community’ and the royal couple spoke to emergency responders who were present at the scene of the knife attack in the town that lies northwest of England.
The visit to Southport was originally meant to be a discreet gathering, the broadcaster said and Kate Middleton was the surprise addition to the plan. They were expected to meet the parents of the three deceased children and the dance teacher who was present at the scene of the attack.
With her chemotherapy completed, Middleton is gradually easing back into her royal responsibilities. This visit, however, marks her most significant step back into public duties.
