Karnataka HC closes Pocso case after suspect weds survivor | India News
BENGALURU: Karnataka high court has permitted closure of a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against a man who married the survivor after she turned 18.
The verdict was passed recently by Justice M Nagaprasanna, who stressed that the court’s paramount importance was the welfare of the survivor and her child born out of the relationship.The judge cited recent SC judgments allowing compounding in similar cases.
The case was registered in Mysuru after a complaint from the mother of the girl, who was 16 years and nine months old then. The man had been in judicial custody since Feb 2023. In June this year, the court granted him a 15-day interim bail to marry the girl. . The accused returned to prison after the wedding. TNN
