Kabaddi Tournament Winners In Bengal Get Mutton And Chicken As Prizes

The Kabaddi winners in Chandkuri village were rewarded with Khasi meat (1st prize), goat (2nd prize) and 10 kilograms poultry chicken as 3rd prize.
A Ha-du-du or the Kabaddi tournament was held at the Chandkuri village located in the Santipur subdivision of Nadia district in West Bengal, India. According to Local 18 West Bengal, this game was played throughout the night. The players from Nadia and other districts participated in this game.
The winners were rewarded with Khasi meat (1st prize), goat (2nd prize) and 10 kilograms poultry chicken as 3rd prize. As per the organisers, this tournament was played between 16 teams from different parts of Nadia and other neighbouring districts. Prize distribution was done in the morning after the game was played in the night.
From local panchayat members to Haripur panchayat chief Biren Mahato sa Rarat, everyone participated in the game with their kabaddi team. The villagers jubilantly enjoyed the festive celebrations-like environment during the Kabaddi game. They relished many delicious dishes and enjoyed experiencing other games at the fair. The audience comprising members in the age group of 8 to 80 stayed up at night enjoying the game. The local businessman pooled the resources to donate the prizes, i.e.- meat, goat and poultry chicken. The organisers expressed their special gratitude to the businessman.
The entrepreneurs said that the Kabaddi tournament has been going on in the Chandkuri village for about 3-4 years. They, however, expressed concern that Kabaddi is not able to match the popularity level of sports such as football and cricket. The local businessmen said that Kabaddi or Ha-du-du is one of the traditional games of India, Hadudu but is slowly finishing. And that is why the villagers have tried to revive the game by distributing all the coveted prizes. Many people from the nearby regions flocked to Chandkuri village to watch this game throughout the night. They want more people to come forward to support this game in the future.
