The fantasy drama series ‘House of the Dragon’ came to an end on Monday with the season finale leaving fans wanting more. While the second season set into motion what will be a brutal Season 3, fans will have to wait two years before they get to see any of their favourite characters in action again.
Eagle-eyed fans watching the finale, noted one specific detail that they are now believe was a nod to the series sequel ‘Game of Thrones‘.The ending shot in the finale, saw Emma D’Arcy‘s Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen standing stall. As the camera panned out, she seemed boxed among the panels of scrolls that listed down the Targaryen family history.
One netizen though the scene could have been a nod to a ‘Game of Thrones’ scene where King Joffrey Baratheon details Rhaenyra’s death.

In a twist that has left fans both amused and astonished, it turns out that Joffrey inadvertently spoiled the ‘House of the Dragon’ finale nearly a decade ago. During an episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ from Season 3, Joffrey, played by Jack Gleeson, casually mentions Rhaenyra’s tragic end while conversing with Margaery Tyrell, portrayed by Natalie Dormer. The scene, which seemed like a minor detail at the time, now holds significant importance for “HOTD” fans who are eagerly following the Targaryen civil war.

In the scene, Joffrey points to a tomb and says, “Rhaenyra Targaryen was murdered by her brother or rather his dragon. It ate her while her son watched.”

This statement, dismissed as a trivial tidbit by many viewers at the time, accurately foreshadows events in “HOTD,” which chronicles the brutal and bloody Targaryen war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The resurfaced clip has taken social media by storm, with fans expressing a mix of surprise about the spoiler that went unnoticed for so long.

The clip resurfacing online comes at a time when the HOTD finale also featured a scene where Matt Smith‘s Daemon witnessed the prophetic vision that included a glimpse of Daenerys Targaryen as the Prince That Was Promised, besides glimpses of the three eyed raven and the White Walkers.
The series, based on George R.R. Martin‘s book ‘Fire & Blood’, delves into the Targaryen dynasty’s history, exploring the events that led to their downfall.
