Joe Biden: Hollywood reacts to Biden’s decision to end reelection bid and endorse Kamala Harris

President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he is ending his bid for re-election and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. The news spread quickly through Hollywood, with celebrities posting their reactions on social media.
Barbra Streisand, a well-known supporter of the Democratic Party, took to X on Sunday to praise Biden’s presidency. “We should be grateful for his upholding of our democracy,” Streisand wrote, reflecting a sentiment shared by many who paid tribute to Biden’s tenure.However, some expressed concerns about the future.

Cher, a vocal Democratic advocate, revealed her anguish over Biden’s decision. “In my heart, I’m tortured because I don’t believe the Democrats can win the Presidency without ‘Pres Biden’ ‘Joe’ whom I’ve loved since we met in 2008. I campaigned for him. I believe IT’S TIME TO PASS THE BATON. TIME FOR DEMS TO THINK ‘WAY’ OUTSIDE THE BOX. MAYBE EVEN A SPLIT TICKET,” she wrote on X.

The call for Biden to step down had been growing in recent weeks, with notable figures like George Clooney adding their voices. Clooney, who had recently headlined a fundraiser for Biden’s campaign, penned an opinion piece in the New York Times urging the President to exit the race. He argued that selecting a new nominee might be a challenging process but could ultimately benefit the Democratic Party.
The star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles saw the attendance of high-profile personalities such as Julia Roberts, Streisand, Jimmy Kimmel, former President Barack Obama, Jack Black, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Kathryn Hahn, and Jason Bateman.
Sheryl Lee Ralph supported Biden’s endorsement of Harris on social media. She posted a photo with the Vice President, captioning it, “President Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris!”
Mark Hamill, famous for his role in “Star Wars,” highlighted Biden’s accomplishments, posting, “@JoeBiden has a record of accomplishments unmatched by any president in our lifetime. He restored honesty, dignity & integrity to the office after 4 years of lies, crime, scandal & chaos. Thank you for your service, Mr. President. It’s now our duty as patriotic Americans to elect the Democrat who will honor & further your legacy.”

George Takei, another prominent actor famous for his role in “Star Trek,” expressed his respect for Biden while rallying support for Harris. “I want to honor our President @JoeBiden. He has served our nation admirably for decades, he is a decent honorable man, a hugely successful president, and a patriot. Now let us unite behind @KamalaHarris and defeat Donald Trump in November!” he posted on X.

The famous comedian Russell Brand, a Trump supporter, simply remarked, “Joe Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination after ending his re-election bid. We’re in a wild world, mate,” on X.
