J&K: Heavy Gunfight Breaks Out Between Security Forces And Terrorists In Srinagar’s Forest Area

A heavy gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in the forest area of Ishber Nishat on the outskirts of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.
A heavy exchange of fire is underway.
“Encounter is going on in the upper reaches of the area on a mountain,” officials said.
A joint police and security forces operation was launched in the Zabarwan forest area of Srinagar based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists. An exchange of fire ensued during the operation, they added.
Dozen injured in Srinagar grenade attack last Sunday
The encounter in Srinagar’s Ishber Nishat area comes exactly a week after 12 civilians were injured in a grenade attack near the heavily guarded Tourist Reception Centre, an area close to Lal Chowk on November 3, last Sunday. Terrorists had lobbed a hand grenade at a security force deployment near the crowded Sunday Market at around 2 pm.
Terrorist killed in another operation
In another operation in Baramulla, the security forces killed a terrorist in the general area of Rajpura, Sopore.

Three terrorists, including wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Usman Lashkari, were killed in two separate anti-terrorist operations in Kashmir on November 2.
