‘It’s Unfair’: Ken Shamrock Opposes John Cena Calling Roman Reigns The ‘GOAT’

Former WWE superstar Ken Shamrock could not agree with John Cena hailing Roman Reigns as the greatest of all time in pro wrestling. Cena, who has worked with Reigns for many years, expressed his admiration for the OG Tribal Chief on several occasions. He echoed the same sentiment during a recent chat with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay-Shay.

Shamrock, however, feels Reigns is not the only WWE legend who deserves the “GOAT” stature. The ex-UFC star shared his thoughts about Cena’s comments during an interview with VLAD TV.

According to Shamrock, it’s “unfair” to brand Reigns as the GOAT despite his illustrious WWE career spanning over a decade. “I think it’s unfair. I just… how do you measure that? I just think there are so many great wrestlers,” he said on VLAD TV, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Shamrock also mentioned the names of some other WWE legends and even included John Cena in his list. “I would put Rock up there, no question, yeah, absolutely no question. I would put John Cena up there. I mean… I would put Shawn Michaels up there. I mean, there’s so many guys that you could put up there and make a great argument,” the 60-year-old added.

There is no doubt that Reigns has become a role model for wrestling fans of the modern era. His appearance in the recent Premier Live Events (PLEs) has helped WWE boost its business. The former Bloodline chief faced off against John Cena several times and emerged victorious on most of those occasions. The last encounter came at the 2021 edition of SummerSlam where Reigns successfully defended the WWE Universal title against Cena.

Reigns recently responded to Cena’s comment while speaking at Bloomberg Power Players of New York. He said, “I wish I could say, ‘I’m Taylor Swift out there,’ but we have a great team. I have a Wiseman. Business has been really good. It’s one of those weird situations.” The 2015 Royal Rumble winner added,

“As far as what John said, I kind of witnessed and observed his early reign as WWE’s top guy and face of the company. Nobody knows better about everything that it takes to get to that point and be in that conversation.”

As far as his ongoing storyline is concerned, Reigns is set to join hands with Cody Rhodes and clash against the Bloodline members– Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu– at the next PLE, Bad Blood.
