India vs Germany Men’s Semifinal Hockey LIVE Score: Indian men’s hockey team is inching towards creating history. They are just a win away from winning a second successive Olympic medal. The Tokyo Games bronze medallists will take on world champions Germany in the semifinal clash of Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday.
India defeated Great Britain in their quarterfinal clash which was marred by controversy. Defender Amit Rohidas was shown a red card for breaching FIH code of conduct and India were forced to play with 10 men with nearly 40 minutes of play still remaining.
GB took the lead before India equalised and held their opponents to a 1-1 draw in the regulation time.
Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was the star of the match for India as he made as many as 10 saves to keep GB at bay. The match was decided by shoot-out and Sreejesh continued his terrific show to help India to a 4-2 win.
India though will be without the services of Rohidas in the semifinal as he will be serving a one-match ban on account of the red card he picked against GB.
India last faced Germany in the in the FIH Pro League’s London leg in June this year, where they defeated the Honamas 3-0 before losing 2-3 in the return tie.
“We wanted to play Germany in the final. At least, that was what we had discussed amongst ourselves during team meetings ahead of the Olympic Games. They are challenging opponents and when we play against them, the match usually goes down till the last second,” India captain Harmanpreet said.
India also faced Germany in as many as six practice matches in the lead up to the Paris Olympics, winning five of them.
