Independence Day 2024: Haryana Schools To Replace ‘Good Morning’ Greetings With ‘Jai Hind’

According to the Haryana school education department, wishing someone ‘Jai Hind’ daily will encourage them to become more “attached to cultural heritage and national traditions.”
The Haryana Directorate of School Education has sent an advisory to all district education officers, principals, and headmasters, directing them to start using “Jai Hind” instead of the daily greeting “good morning” on Independence Day. According to a circular issued on Tuesday, the department also made sure to emphasise that “Jai Hind” should be used before the national flag is raised on Independence Day, reported JagranJosh.
The Directorate of School Education, Haryana circular reads “To instil a deep sense of patriotism and national pride among students, a decision has been taken to replace ‘good morning’ with ‘Jai Hind’ so that students are inspired every day with the spirit of national unity and respect for the rich history of our country.”
According to the report, all district education officers, district elementary education officers, district block education officers, block elementary education officers, principals, and headmasters have received instructions from the directorate of school education to substitute “Jai Hind” for “good morning” on Independence Day. According to the department’s notice, “Students are inspired every day with the spirit of national unity and respect for the rich history of our country,”.
The department letter also stated that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose popularised the word “Jai Hind,” which was chosen as the Indian National Army’s motto in the 1940s. After which the members of the armed forces started using it as a greeting.
“Jai Hind transcends regional, linguistic, and cultural differences and promotes unity among students from diverse backgrounds,” as per the department notice.”In India, the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and police force whose services are identified as disciplined have implemented ‘Jal Hind’ as a greeting,” the statement continued. ‘Jal Hind’ should be used regularly to help students maintain discipline and homogeneity, the report further added.
