The Hindu temple attacks in Canada were planned meticulously and the directions possibly came from the top and then a handful were mobilised, top intelligence sources have told CNN-News18.

Sources have said that the motive behind these attacks is owning Gurudwara businesses and keeping the cash flow going. Sources have claimed that the state machinery was supporting the attackers and evidence came from the statement of Hindu Canadian MP Chandan Arya and the suspension of Peel Police Officer Harinder Sohi, who was suspended by authorities after a video of him participating in a pro-Khalistan protest outside a Hindu temple in Brampton went viral on social media.

The attacks on Hindu temples began at a large scale in the last one year, including the firing at the house of Satish Sharma, president of Surrey’s Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.

Sources, in fact, said that Indian Missions and consulates had knowledge of such attacks being planned and the same was communicated to authorities, but no police arrangements or warnings were given.

“Most alarming was warning messages by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun before Diwali when he even issued threats to Indian airlines,” sources added, saying lack of cooperation in investigation from UK, US and Canada was an issue.

‘Private Gurudwaras Becoming Places of Gangsters’

Sources also said that private gurudwaras in Canada were becoming place of gangsters. They said peace-loving Sikh families wanted to visit Gurudwaras where no Khalistani activities take place. Intelligence sources said majority of Sikhs and Hindus were living in peace and harmony but two per cent were mobilised by Khalistani groups who are managing private gurudwaras.

According to sources, these private gurudwaras are flourishing because of business propositions and also because they get money, land and enjoy clout in the society.

“These Gurudwaras know that unless these people are mobilised, it will become difficult for them to sustain because most of the Sikhs have stopped coming to these Khalistani Gurudwaras like Deshmesh Gurudwara in Surrey, Guru Nanak Dev Gurudwara where Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed and other such gurudwaras,” sources said.

Sources say that majority of Sikhs staying in Canada don’t want a repeat of 1984 and don’t want to be seen as being on the other side of the law.

Earlier CNN-News18 had reported how 1,000 Hindu and Sikhs came together to pass a resolution against the pro-Khalistani Sikhs.
