In fact, Milind Deora, set to face Aaditya Thackeray on Worli assembly seat, had also posted on X that “political adversaries are not enemies”.
The Worli constituency in Maharashtra is set for an intense battle with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora pitted against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. Deora, who is being called a “sacrificial lamb” for having been nominated against Thackeray, said he considered the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader a “younger brother”.
Speaking to India Today TV, Deora on Tuesday said, “I don’t have any personal issues with Aditya Thackeray. I have known him since he was a young boy. I consider him like my younger brother. We have to fight against the speed-breaker politics that has unfortunately been the trend in the state in the last few years. Aaditya Thackeray is a young man.”
“It is not a personal battle, but a political contest. Had my party put up an unknown face against Aaditya Thackeray, the media would have been the first one to say that we are giving them a walkover,” he added.
In fact, Deora had also posted on X that “political adversaries are not enemies”. “In politics, your adversaries are never your enemies. They’re simply people with whom you disagree. ~ Lyndon B. Johnson,” Deora had posted.

Deora also attacked Thackeray, accusing him of delaying key projects in Maharashtra. “He (Aditya Thackeray) came with a lot of promises, but opposed the Mahalaxmi Race Course project, which he could have delivered 11 years ago. He delayed the metro project which cost the state exchequer Rs 14,000 crore. He also delayed another important project called the Vadhvan port. He delayed the world’s biggest nuclear power plant project,” Deora said.
Deora filed his nomination from the Worli seat on Tuesday. “Today marks the first step in CM Eknath Shinde Ji’s journey to empower and uplift every voice in Worli! As his ambassador, I filed my nomination with immense pride and purpose. The time to bring justice, growth and opportunities that every Worlikar deserves is NOW. Jai Maharashtra,” he posted on X.
Milind Deora, a former Congress leader, had joined the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena recently and was elected as the Rajya Sabha MP. He is now set to fight the Maharashtra Assembly poll against Aaditya Thackeray, voting for which will take place on November 20. The counting of votes will take place on November 23.
