Heartbroken by a breakup with his girlfriend, a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra resorted to an extreme step of attempting suicide by ‘drinking mosquito repellent’ on camera, according to media reports.
The police, who were alerted after the video was shared on his Instagram profile, reached his residence early in the morning and shifted him to a hospital, ultimately saving his life, Navbharat Times reported.
What was the incident?
On Friday, the man shared a video of himself on Instagram which showed him drinking the poison on the camera. As he took the first sip, he visibly felt uncomfortable, however, he continued to swallow two more gulps. He then clutched his stomach in extreme unease, the report said.
As the Trans Yamuna Police Station received an alert from the Police Commissioner’s media cell about the social media post, they responded in a flash, arriving at his residence in Sati Nagar Naraich at around 3.30 am on Saturday.
Police save his life
The police rushed him to the hospital and saved his life. He is reported to be stable as his treatment continues, Navbharat Times reported.
The police officials informed that he had consumed a mosquito-repellent chemical.
The man, preparing for competitive exams, was reportedly distressed due to a recent breakup with his girlfriend.
