‘Destroying Social Fabric’: BJP Slams Mamata Banerjee Over ‘I Am Not A Kafir’ Remark

BJP leader Amit Malviya slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over “I am not a Kafir” remark while addressing TMC’s Shaheed Diwas rally accusing her of “unabashedly endorsing the abuse against non-Muslims”. He further claimed that the ruling TMC in Bengal is “hell-bent on destroying the state’s social fabric”.

“Jo darte hain wo marte hain. Jo ladte hain wo kaamyaab hote hain. Hum darpok nahi hain. Hum ‘Kafir’ nahi hain. Hum gaddar nahi hain. (Those who fear, die. Those who fight, achieve success. I am not a ‘Kafir’. I am not a traitor),” Mamata Banerjee said while addressing the rally in heavy rain.

Taking to microblogging site X, Malviya shared a snippet of the TMC supremo’s speech and wrote, “Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a public rally today, declares, “She is not a Kafir”. She equates Kafirs to being “darpok” or cowards. With Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim by her side, who recently gave an open call to convert everyone to Islam, Mamata Banerjee unabashedly endorses the abuse against non-Muslims… The Trinamool Congress is hell bent on destroying West Bengal’s social fabric. Islamisation of Bengal and forced demographic change is alarming, to say the least.”

Mamata Banerjee’s “Bengal’s relations with India” remark at TMC’s Shaheed Diwas rally also did not go well with BJP leaders. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla asked if Bengal was a “separate nation” according to the TMC supremo.

In TMC’s Shaheed Diwas rally, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I want that Bengal’s relations with India should be good. You (Akhilesh Yadav) came here, I thank you. I would like to congratulate the Samajwadi Party because the game you have shown in Uttar Pradesh… I agree with you that the government that has been brought to power in Delhi by appointing agencies, by appointing Election Commission, that government is not stable, that government can go anytime …”

Amit Malviya stressed that West Bengal is an “inalienable part of India” and commented that “this kind of seditious language doesn’t behove a sitting Chief Minister”.

“Mamata Banerjee should know that West Bengal is an inalienable part of India. Millions of revolutionaries have sacrificed their blood to secure a homeland for Hindu Bengalis. This kind of seditious language doesn’t behove a sitting Chief Minister. She must not underestimate the power of the Indian state and anger of the people of Bengal. Her dream of becoming Suhrawardy 2.0 will remain a dream, for all times to come,” Malviya wrote in an X post.
