Bhajan Kaur is set to make her Olympic debut at the age of 18. The talented archer from Haryana was in school when Deepika Kumari first featured at the Summer Olympics in 2012. Now after 12 years, Kaur will represent the Indian women’s archery team on the biggest stage. When her school was looking for an under-14 girl archer, a teacher asked Kaur to give it a try. That’s when she first started practising recurve archery and impressed the seniors with her dedication. Kaur was selected at the Tata Archery Academy. She has been practising there for more than three years now. She has also trained under Korean coach Lim Chae Woong at an academy in Jamshedpur where she met Purnima Mahato. Kaur has so far won several national and international archery competitions. She was part of the Indian contingent that featured at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Bhajan Kaur had won a gold medal at the Final Olympic Qualifier held in Antalya, Turkey earlier this year. She got the better of top-seeded Mobina Fallah from Iran 6-2 (28-26, 29-29, 29-26, 29-29) to clinch the prized medal.
