FC Barcelona’s financial crunch continues but the release of five players could result in some revenue for the club.
Barcelona are on a mission of offloading some players ahead of the transfer deadline to battle their ongoing financial issues. They have recently succeeded in generating a significant amount of funds through the sale of five players. Those who have been shown the exit door mostly include young players.
From these transfers, Barcelona have gained a profit of €40 million, which will no doubt give them a massive monetary boost. The Spanish outfit aims to secure a few more new signings in the next few days. But the issue of financial fair play has been a stumbling block for them.
Barcelona have yet to complete the transfers of Pau Victor from Girona. They have already secured the signature of Spanish star Dani Olmo. The former RB Leipzig man is still waiting for his La Liga registration. Barcelona have already secured the signature of Olmo on a deal worth €60 million. They, however, must trim their overall wage bill to make way for the 26-year-old to rejoin his boyhood club.

The five players who have recently parted ways with Barcelona are Julian Araujo, Marc Guiu, Chadi Riad, Estanis Pedrola and Mika Faye. They have collectively played only 193 minutes for the first team. Araujo spent the last season at Las Palmas on loan but remained out of the main squad. He has been sold to Premier League side Bournemouth, who have paid €10 million for the 23-year-old right-back.
Marc Guiu, who has represented the Spain U-17 side, featured in seven matches during his time at Barcelona. Chelsea have roped in the 18-year-old forward for a fee of €6 million. Chadi Riad is also set to shift his base to England, with Crystal Palace signing him for €9 million which includes a fixed payment of €3 million and €6 million in capital gains.
Sampdoria has opted for the option of a permanent buy to rope in Estanis Pedrola, who was at the Serie B side on loan. Barcelona have earned €3 million from his sale. Meanwhile, Mika Faye will now ply his trade for Rennes. The French club has signed a €12-million deal with Barcelona to land the Senegalese centre-back.

All of these players were put on sale when the summer transfer window opened in June. Barcelona have already released a total of eleven players. Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo have been sent back to their parent clubs following the end of their loan spells. On the other hand, Ilkay Gundogan has rejoined Manchester City on a free transfer.
