NEW DELHI: In an incident on the Agra-Aligarh National Highway near Hathras, a bus collided with a van, resulting in the loss of 12 lives.
Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar told reporters, “The accident took place while one vehicle was trying to overtake another vehicle. Till now, 12 people have lost their lives, while 16 others are injured.”

Meanwhile, Hathras SP Nipun Agarwal gave further updates on the accidents and victims.”The accident occurred when the bus hit the van while trying to overtake it on the Agra-Aligarh National Highway,” said the SP as quoted by news agency PTI. “We are trying to identify those who lost their lives, and those who is responsible for this incident will not be spared. Four children are among those who lost their lives in the incident,” added SP Agarwal.
PM office extended condolences on the incident and announced “an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Hathras, UP. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”
