Apple is bringing the AI-powered tech to Music app as well
Apple Music is going to get the new AI-powered features from the company which will be available once the iOS 18 update rolls out.
Apple is introducing Apple Intelligence-powered features for Apple Music, the company’s music streaming service. Unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple Intelligence (AI) is likely to enable several other AI features on iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Earlier, Apple introduced a library of artwork with iOS 17.1 that users could choose from to customise a playlist in Apple Music.
As per a report by 9To5Mac, the new iOS 18 developer beta 4 contains a new string of code that will provide Apple Music users an option to generate AI artworks for Apple Music playlists. With AI integration into the Apple Music app, a “create image” button on the editing page of a playlist in Apple Music is introduced. This button will reportedly invoke the new Image Playground feature that Apple announced at its annual developer conference while launching the iOS 18 operating system.
The new Image Playground app will let iPhone users write commands with the help of AI to generate images. These AI-generated images can have different styles, such as animation, sketch, illustration and more. Presumably, Apple’s music streaming service will first ask users what they want the playlist artwork to look like and then generate a few options that they can select from.
Apple Intelligence brings system-wide AI capabilities like image generation, writing assistance, summarisation and many more. It is worth noting that the feature is still under development and it’s not available to beta users. However, the tech giant is likely to start testing the new features in the future iOS 18 beta updates.
The media outlet further reported that Apple first said some features of the Apple Intelligence would be available in beta this summer, however, these references were later removed from the company’s website.
Meanwhile, Apple is expected to roll out some of these features in preview with the initial iOS 18, macOS Sequoia and iPadOS 18 public release around September.
In related news, the iOS 18 developer beta 4 brings several new improvements and changes. Available on eligible iPhone models, the new update features a new “Controls Menu” in the Settings app. This feature is available for the camera that reportedly “preserves” the previously used camera tools when the controls menu is expanded.
Other notable changes include expanded Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging support in the UK, Spain and Canada, a new window sizing option for mirroring the iPhone screen on a Mac, and system-wide minor redesigns to app icons and the user interface.
