Apple Could Replace Your Door Lock Keys With Face ID For Home Security: Know More
Last Updated:
Apple is going to have a stronger focus on the smart home market in 2025 and this new product could have a big say on its growth.
Apple wants to enter the smart home segment in a big way next year and one of its new products could be Face ID-enabled smart door cameras. The report from Bloomberg says the new product is likely to be part of Apple’s growing plans for the smart home arena, something it has not targeted for years.
The likes of Google and Amazon have an obvious interest with their respective lineups, and now Apple is ready to join the ranks and make a doorbell camera that allows you to enter the house using the iPhone Face ID tech.
Face ID For Secure Homes
The report claims that Apple feels the security of Face ID makes it reliable enough to be integrated for doors. And its use of the technology could make it possible for the person to enter the house by getting their face recognised using the Face ID feature.
Having this offered by Apple will also convince people about its safety and privacy of their face data that might not be as effective with other companies in this segment.
The camera could either work with Apple’s own product or make it compatible with many third-party smart locks that are available in the market and make them further secure. We have already seen door locks that work through biometric ID like your thumbprint and Face ID feels like a logical step to upgrade the feature going into the future.
Apple is tipped to bring this product/feature by late 2025 when we might also see the company enter the security camera segment and also enhance its presence with a HomePod unit that has an iPad-like display to control all the other smart home devices. The company’s iPhone sales have stagnated in its big markets, so bringing more products is essential for its future prospects.
