Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has taken a strong stand in solidarity with rape victims across India, amplifying a powerful social media campaign that questions the persistent victim-blaming culture. Sharma shared a viral template on her Instagram stories, that highlights the horrific headlines of rape victims.
The list not only includes the Kolkata rape and murder case, but also sheds light on other victims, including a 2-year-old child in Delhi to an 85-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh.The post, which has been shared over 3.7 million times across various social media platforms, asks the poignant question: “Is it still HER fault?”
The post features a list of headlines on the various acts of violence against women from across the country, challenging the excuses often made to shift blame onto the victims. “What’s your excuse this time or is it still HER fault, because Men Will Be Men, right?,” the widely shared post asks.Anushka Sharma is the latest celeb to lend her star power to the cause and stand in solidarity with the victims.
