‘Animal’ star Bobby Deol recalls his struggle with alcoholism: ‘No one can hold your hand…’ |
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Bobby reflected on his past struggles with alcoholism. He acknowledged that dwelling on past mistakes isn’t productive; instead, one must experience and overcome challenges to grow. Deol emphasized the importance of navigating these trials independently.
The Love Hostel actor explained that he can’t prescribe a solution for those struggling with similar issues because everyone ultimately knows their own way out. He stressed that believing in oneself and activating that inner strength is crucial. Reflecting on his own experience, he likened the situation to drowning, suggesting that people often allow themselves to sink when, in reality, everyone has the potential to swim to safety.
With deep emotion, Deol recounted how a pivotal moment came when he noticed the concern in his family’s eyes. Despite their encouragement, he could see the sadness they felt watching him struggle. He acknowledged that their support was limited to comforting words. The turning point for him was realizing his role as a father and the impact he wanted to have on his children, much like how he had been inspired by his own father, Dharmendra. This newfound awareness drove him to work harder and strive for improvement.
Reflecting on his journey, Bobby also mentioned that his comeback efforts began with Poster Boys. Although the film didn’t perform well and was a departure from his usual genre, he remained undeterred. Despite its failure, he continued to pursue diverse projects and never gave up.
