Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticizes ABC News moderators for bias in the Trump-Harris debate, claiming they failed to fact-check Kamala Harris’s statements

Dozens of Republicans fiercely rebuked ABC News moderators for their perceived bias during Tuesday’s presidential showdown between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris ahead of the November election.

Robert F Kennedy Jr, who recently endorsed the former US President, accused the moderators of unfairly targeting Trump while failing to fact-check the Democratic candidate’s statements. He expressed frustration that the moderators focused intensely on Trump, yet overlooked inaccuracies in Harris’s responses.

‘Fact-checking Donald Trump’

“We had moderators who were clearly biased, constantly fact-checking Donald Trump,” Kennedy said. “But none of these whoppers from the vice president were addressed. The moderators simply sat on the sidelines and allowed that to pass,” he said, as Republicans expressed anger over the performance of ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis. “I thought that was my best Debate, EVER, especially since it was THREE ON ONE,” the Republican nominee said in a Truth Social Post.

“3 on 1” Moderation

In a comment to the New York Post, one spokesperson for Trump called the moderation a “3 on 1,” referring to the frequent fact-checks of Trump while Harris was not similarly scrutinised. Virginia GOP Senate candidate Hung Cao also slammed the moderators on X, saying, “They’re going to need more than a 3-on-1 advantage to cover up the failure and the lies of the Biden-Harris-Kaine record.”

“ABC hosts embarrassing themselves protecting Harris from having to answer whether she supports partial birth late-term abortions,” US political commentator Noah Pollak posted on X. Firebrand Ann Coulter noted: “But it’s great to have 3 Democrats debating Trump tonight. Thanks, ABC!”

Donald Trump Jr also blasted the fact-checkers for only fact-checking Trump, but not Harris. “Weird how the hack moderators at @abcnews are only ‘Fact-checking’ Trump and allowing Kamala to lie nonstop,” he posted. “The Fake News is the enemy of the people!”

The current US presidential race presents a clear contrast between Harris and Trump, with sharp differences on key issues such as taxes, abortion, global alliances, climate change, and democracy itself. On Tuesday, the candidates clashed over immigration, foreign policy and healthcare, but the debate was light on specific policy details.
