Android 16 Update Could Reach Your Smartphone Early Next Year: What Google Plans To Do
Last Updated:
Google has shared its detailed Android 16 roll out plan for 2025 which includes multiple small versions during the year.
Google launched the Pixel 9 series this year with the older Android 14 version out of the box. But the company is fixing this gap issue with the Android 16 update coming out earlier to fall in line with the next Pixel launches in 2025. The details have been officially shared via the Android Developer Blog recently, which is sure to get the developers excited for an early Android 16 release for beta tests next year.
Android 16 Release Date In 2025: What Google Says
The biggest change with Android 16 is going to be the release date, which Google seems to have planned for Q2 2025 instead of the traditional Q3 cycle. These new timelines also hint at the company’s broader plans to keep launching the new products a little earlier than its usual schedule.
That’s not all, Google is now going to have a minor release update for Android versions in Q4 2025 which is likely to include support for new hardware upgrades.
The Pixels have predominantly launched around October but Google changed the cycle this year by announcing the Pixel 9 series in August. Bringing the Android 16 roadmap a quarter earlier means the public version should be available by the time the Pixel 10 series is launched in the market.
The Android 15 version is yet to reach the consumers with most brands, including Samsung but it is pivotal that plans to integrate Android 16 into their systems start in the next few months, which will allow them to fall in line with Google’s advancing timelines for new Android releases. The Android 15 update has so far been confirmed by brands like OnePlus which is now offering the beta version for select devices.
