Amit Shah Says BJP Govt In Jharkhand Will Bring Law To Prevent ‘Intruders’ From Owning Land

Amit Shah said that the BJP government would also form a committee to identify and drive out infiltrators from the state besides reclaiming land grabbed by them.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that if BJP is voted to power in Jharkhand, a legislation will be brought to prevent transfer of land to “infiltrators” on marrying tribal women.
While addressing a rally in Seraikela in poll-bound state, Shah said that the BJP government would also form a committee to identify and drive out infiltrators from the state besides reclaiming land grabbed by them.
“Tribal population is declining in Jharkhand. Infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying our daughters. We will bring legislation to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators if they marry tribal women. We will also form a committee to identify infiltrators to drive them out and reclaim land grabbed by them,” news agency PTI quoted Shah as saying.
His remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed similar comments. While addressing a rally in Garhwa last week, the Prime Minister had slammed Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and the ruling JMM- Congress alliance of supporting the ‘infiltrators’ from Bangladesh.
“The JMM-RJD-Congress government has taken appeasement to its peak. These parties are destroying the state’s social harmony. They are supporters of infiltrators. To get votes of Bangladesh infiltrators, they are getting them settled across Jharkhand,” he had said.
The Home Minister further hit out at Hemant Soren over “the way former JMM leader and CM Champai Soren was humiliated and thrown out”. He claimed that the latter was insulted when he raised the infiltration issue and was forced to resign from CM’s post by Hemant Soren.
The former JMM leader was made the Chief Minister for a brief period after Hemant Soren was arrested and jailed on corruption charges. He was later unceremoniously removed after the Hemant was granted bail by the court. Champai Soren later switched camps and joined the saffron camp.
Accusing the JMM-Congress and RJD leaders of only working for personal growth and indulging in corruption, he said “Corrupt leaders of JMM-led coalition to be sent behind bars if BJP forms government in Jharkhand.” Shah alleged that the JMM-led dispensation was behind Rs 1,000 crore MNREGA scam, Rs 300 crore land scam, Rs 1,000 crore mining scam and multi-crore liquor scam and devoured Rs 3.90 lakh crore sent by the Centre.
He promised that once the BJP government is voted to power in the state it will ensure that if the Centre sends rupee one, 25 more paise is added to it by the state so that Rs 1.25 reaches to people.
Curtains will come down on campaigning for the 43 Assembly seats of Jharkhand going to the polls in the first phase on November 13. The second phase of voting for the remaining 38 seats will be held on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.
In the 2019 Assembly Elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) emerged as the largest party with 30 seats, while the BJP bagged 25 seats, and the Congress won 16 seats. Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) got three seats, while All Jharkhand Students Union won 2 seats. JMM formed government with the support of Congress and RJD.
