Aamir Khan has been working creatively on multiple subjects, which he wishes to associate with either in the capacity of an actor or a producer. While he prefers to act in one film at a time, the perfectionist has made up his mind to slowly set up his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, as an independent studio. Aamir Khan Productions (AKP) was set up in 1999 by Aamir Khan with the purpose of producing the film Lagaan.The company has produced critically acclaimed films like Taare Zameen Par, Delly Belly, Secret Superstar, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and many more
After the recent success of Kiran Rao‘s Laapataa Ladies, according to Mid-day, Aamir Khan Productions is set to bring Pritam Pyaare starring son Junaid, Rajkumar Santoshi‘s Lahore 1947 with Sunny Deol, Vir Das‘ Happy Patel and RS Prasanna’s Sitaare Zameen Par to the big screen in the next 18 months .
Over the last couple of years, Aamir Khan has been working towards transforming his production house into a studio. A couple of months ago, the actor-filmmaker roped in Aparna Purohit, former Head of Originals for India and Southeast Asia, Amazon Prime Video, to lead Aamir Khan Productions in its new journey ahead.
Aamir Khan and his production team are working day and night to get a fresh slate of lineup in place. ‘Aamir Khan Production has creatively worked together to set up as many as 3 projects, which are ready to roll in the window of October to March. While one of them could feature Aamir Khan himself, there are two others which warrant the presence of other actors, revealed a source close to the development.
One of the films that Aamir is considering for his next acting venture is Rajkumar Santoshi’s next. The slice-of-life subject has plenty of humour and a social message at its core.
Sitaare Zameen Par is presently in the post-production stage. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is slated to release this Christmas.
